DIY Project #1: Turn Skirt into Bag

So, I had successfully turned my skirt to bag - turned something that used to be a permanent resident of my closet which never comes out, into something useful and lovable.

The skirt used to be like this:
Basically it is a mini skirt with straps & buckles (or whatever you may call it, honestly i don't really know the name for sure. haha) which can be unbuckled, so it is much easier to transform it into the bag straps.

The final look of the bag is:

Let's see how the transformation is possible:

What you'll need:
- Pre-loved (or never-been-loved) skirt with straps
- Needle & thread
- Velcro tape (optional)
- A bunch of creativity and a little sewing skill!

How to:
1. Unbuckle the straps and let it hang.

2. Turn the skirt inside-out, then sew the bottom part with basting technique (or jahit jelujur in Bahasa Indonesia) from end to end.

3. Pull the thread so that it is ruffled nicely, then secure the end of the thread. After that, strengthen the stitch by basting it again (make it tighter now and do it twice, thrice, or as many as you'd like to make it firm) or simply sew it with a sewing machine.

4. Turn the bag into the right side again and sew the velcro tape wherever you like so that your bag can be closed.

5. Now, let's dislocate the straps' position. Cross the straps, then buckle the right strap to the left buckle and vice versa.

6. Here's how the straps will look. It becomes overlapping, unlike the 'normal' bag straps. But it's the easiest and simplest way to transform the  skirt's strap into bag's straps! ;)

This is it:
Sooooo... your brand-new bag is ready to wear!
